9. SPA 2 Demographics The SFV has a population of over 1.8 million people. The largest cities include: –Glendale 9.85% –Van Nuys 9.46% –North Hollywood 8.58% –Burbank 5.73% –Pacoima 5.47%

10. Demographics The Santa Clarita Valley is smaller than the SFV with over 217,000 people. The largest cities in the SCV include: –Canyon Country 28.40% –Valencia 22.39% –Santa Clarita 19.09%

11. San Fernando Valley The area is diverse with no group representing a majority of the population: –Latinos 38.65% –Caucasian 43.90% –Asian 9.76% –African American 3.57% Great disparities exist in terms of income

12. San Fernando Valley –Approximately 17.5% of the households earn annual incomes below $25,000 per year. –10.7% of the households report annual incomes of over $150,000 per year. Educational attainment varies in the SFV: –Approximately 12% of adults 25 and above have less than a 9th grade education –Approximately 26% of adults 25 and above have a 4 year college degree or post grad education.

San Fernando Valley 29% of the Valley’s population is under the age of 20 11% of the population is 65 years or above The greatest population increase over the next 5 years is projected among those between the ages of 45 to 64 years The population between the ages of 35-44 years are projected to decline over the next five years.

14. Santa Clarita Valley The area is less diverse than the SFV. –66% of the population is Caucasian –21.6% of the population is Latino –5.9% of the population is Asian –3.3% of the population is African American The SCV is more affluent compared to the SFV.

15. Santa Clarita Valley –13% of households report annual incomes of over $150,000 per year. –8.7% of households in the area report annual incomes of $25,000 or less per year. Only 4% of the population 25 years and above have less than a 9th grade education. 25% of the 25+ year old population have four or more years of college education

Santa Clarita Valley 32% of the area population is below the age of 20 11% of the population is 65 years or older The greatest population increase over the next five years is projected to be among those 85 years and above followed by those persons between the ages of 45 to 64 years The smallest population increase is projected among those between the ages of 35 to 44 years.
