How Does It Work 18 to 24 lessons Curriculum ranges from 18 to 24 lessons Three stages of riding Three stages of riding in the progression wearing a helmet, achieve perception of balance, mounting, dismounting, steering and stopping skills In the first 2 stages, students will understand the importance of wearing a helmet, achieve perception of balance, mounting, dismounting, steering and stopping skills traffic signs, hazards and basic rules of the road while riding the bike By the final stage, students will recognize and understand traffic signs, hazards and basic rules of the road while riding the bike

Assessment Pre-Test and Post-Test The bike rubric is divided into 4 levels for each of the three riding stages. – Level 1, Inexperienced – Level 2, Experienced – Level 3, Advanced – Level 4, Accelerated * Students may fall between levels

Who Can Do It anyone can implement This curriculum is designed so that anyone can successfully implement it into their physical education program. step by step The curriculum is laid out in a step by step process lesson plans There are basic lesson plans for teachers to use as guides

Equipment Bikes (16) (12” and 16”) One helmet per student (1 per students) Different color cones (big and small) Stop sign Go sign Slow sign Whiteboard Color wrist bands Different color floor tape Poly spots Bean bags Domes Open free space for safety (large gym, track, blacktop or hard field)
