Overeating & Snacking According to a 2009 Yale University study of eating behavior & TV food advertising: According to a 2009 Yale University study of eating behavior & TV food advertising: Children ate 45% more when exposed to food advertising Adults ate more healthy & unhealthy snack foods after watching snack food ads The effects were not related to reported hunger or other conscious influences In another 2009 study by the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity: Middle & high school students were tracked for 5 years → those who watched >5 hours of TV a day ate less fruits, vegetables, whole grain and calcium-rich foods & higher amounts of trans fat, fried foods, fast food, snack products and sugar-sweetened beverages 5 years later
