nursery rhymes, songs, and books!!! Rhymes can be found in…

An example of rhyme in a song… “way down South where bananas grow, grow and toe rhyme a grasshopper stepped on an elephant’s toe …”

An example of rhyme from a nursery rhyme is… “One, two, buckle my shoe, three, four shut the door…”

Another example of nursery rhyme is… Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horses And all the king’s men Couldn’t put Humpty Together again..

And example of rhyme from a book is… I will not, will not, with a goat, I will not eat them in the rain. I will not eat them on a train. I could not, would not, on a boat

Words can rhyme at the end of a line… Did you ever see a whale, with a polka-dot tail?

some sounds are similar at the beginning of each word… Seven silly salamanders sell sodas.

And some rhyme at the end of the words… “Did you ever see a fly wearing a tie”

Let’s read this passage… “ Did you ever see a bear, combing his hair?” What other words rhyme with bear and hair? chair Can you think of any others?

Read this passage. Think of words that rhyme with the blue words… Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are…

Words like… jar car rhyme with star and are!!!

Now that we have practised with rhymes, we can practise on our own!!! Tell an adult your two rhyming words, and they will write the two words on your paper. Draw pictures of your words and colour them. Think of two words that rhyme. Turn your picture into the basket.
