Have you heard anything else about limericks? Limericks named after Irish town (with a pub in which limericks were told!) Because silly and memorable, repeated by beggars and working classes in pubs Even Shakespeare wrote them- Othello and King Lear

Silly-but doesn’t always have to be 5 lines Lines 1, 2 and 5: 10 syllables Lines 3 and 4: 5 -7 syllables Lines 1, 2 and 5 rhyme

To get you started, write your first limerick simply by fitting syllables(beats) into the brackets. Use a bracket for each syllable – tree, Who was horribly bored by a Bee; When they said, 'Does it buzz?' He replied, 'Yes, it does!' 'It's a regular brute of a Bee!' Limericks Limericks consist of five lines. Lines 1, 2, and 5 of Limericks have 7-10 syllables and rhyme with one another. Lines 3 and 4 of Limericks have 5-7 syllables and also rhyme with each other.
