Feb 9, 1983 The SS Marine Electric was docked at the Atlantic Sea Port of Norfolk, VA The crew considered their next voyage to be a “milk run”. They would be travel only 30 mile off the coast. If they got in trouble the Coast Guard would just come and get them Robert “Bob” Cusick (right)

10 Feb 10, 1983 The Marine Electric leaves port with a full cargo underway to Brayton Point, MA

11 Feb 11, 1983 Late in the afternoon of Feb. 11, Marine Electric was contacted by the U.S. Coast Guard to turn back and assist the 65-foot fishing vessel, Theodora, just northeast of Chincoteague Island, which was taking on water, disoriented, and requesting assistance. . The Marine Electric stood on station with the Theodora until the USCG vessel Point Highland, from the Coast Guard Station Chincoteague arrived

12 Feb 12, 1983 4:15 a.m., as the crew was preparing to abandon ship, the Marine Electric capsized and the crewmen who were mustered on deck were thrown into the water and sea state had not abated. The twisted haul of the ship was visible until 11:30am the morning of Feb 12, 1983
