Since it was established in 1990 over 300 patients have received cochlear implants at this centre. At the end of 2005 SOECIC was supporting 124 adults, 48 teenagers and 126 children with cochlear implants including 10 using bilateral implants. The team has grown to over 25 staff members. Situated within the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton SOECIC benefits from being part of a high quality research establishment.
