Recommended by: Mr. Sears The Hobbit by: J. R. R. Tolkien The Hobbit is the prelude to The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. The Hobbit tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, a simple hobbit of the Shire in a place called Middle Earth. Gandalf the Wizard convinces Bilbo at the last minute to act as “burglar” for a group of dwarves on their journey to The Lonely Mountain. They seek to take back their home and treasure that was stolen away by Smaug the Dragon. Along the way, Bilbo meets up with the elves, faces death by trolls & orcs and then must face Smaug. The Hobbit will introduce you to the world of Middle Earth – one of the best fantasy stories of all time. If you are a fan of the Redwall series, or like the world of wizards, dragons, orcs, trolls, magic and the fight of good vs. evil, this book is for you.

Twilight Stephenie Meyer When seventeen-year-old Isabella (Bella) Swan hears that her mother is getting remarried, she ships herself off to the boring ole small town of Forks, WA to live with her father. She was sure that she was just going to fall into the background of things in this dull town, but it doesn’t take long for Edward Cullen to catch her attention. With his suspicious story, and ghostly pale skin, she knows something’s up. As he tries to hide his secrets from her, she’s determined to unmask his façade and discover the answers to her millions of questions. With his alluring eyes and mysterious lifestyle, he takes Bella on the ride of her life that may just end it… “I’D NEVER GIVEN MUCH THOUGHT TO HOW I WOULD DIE– I’d had reason enough in the last few months – but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this.... Surely it was a good way to die, in the place of something else, someone I loved. Noble, even. That ought to count for something.” – from preface of Twilight I can’t even put into words how much I enjoyed this book. It was AMAZING! :] Twilight is full of suspense, romance, mystery, and comedy. I started reading it thinking that I wouldn’t enjoy it because it was about vampires. But, boy was I wrong. I was hooked from the very first chapter and it held my attention the whole way through. (I finished in three days.) This is the first book in a series of four. Recommended by: Ashlyn Apple
