2. What is a lyric? Part of a song or poem that expresses deep personal feelings. What is a collage? A collection of unrelated images or words, usually on paper, that, when combined, create a unified work of art.

3. Types of Lyric Collages: Literal – The imagery represents exactly what the lyrics are saying. Figurative – The imagery is inspired by what the lyrics are saying and are often a combination of unrelated concepts that give off a similar feeling.

4. Literal Lyric Collage: “All I want is the moon up on a stick…” -Radiohead

5. Literal Lyric Collage: “At the bottom of the sea…” -The Thermals

6. Literal Lyric Collage: “Something in the way she moves….” -The Beatles

7. Figurative Lyric Collage: “Into the Mystic” -Van Morrison

8. Figurative Lyric Collage: “They paved paradies and put up a parking lot…” -Joni Mitchell

10. Your Collage Must: Completely cover the surface of your paper. Be a combination of Magazine and Paint and/or Marker. Include: Line, Shape, Color, Value, Texture & Space. Include part or all of the lyric/song/poem/story you are inspired by.
