2 Fine Arts Program rated Recognized Students at Garden Park are given the opportunity to participate in various fine arts activities such as choir, Estudiantina, writing and poster contests. The Estudiantina group performs at nursing homes at Christmas time and Mothers’ Day. In Art, several students placed at the state and regional level in poster contests. GARDEN PARK ELEMENTARY

3 Wellness and Physical Education Programs rated Exemplary Garden Park students stay healthy by eating a nutritious breakfast every morning. Students also stay fit by participating in many activities throughout the year such as Jump for Heart, 5K races, sports leagues, and the BISD Track Meet. GARDEN PARK ELEMENTARY

4 Community and Parental Involvement rated Recognized Parents and community members play an important role in the success of Garden Park students. Parents attend weekly meetings to keep up with educational issues and receive strategies to help their children at home with their studies. Border Patrol made students happy by giving each student a gift at Christmas time. GARDEN PARK ELEMENTARY

5 21 st Century Workforce Development rated Acceptable Students are made aware of the many careers available because of a good education through activities such as Career Day. Special visitors came by the campus and gave the students an opportunity to participate in hands on activities related to their jobs. GARDEN PARK ELEMENTARY

6 Second Language Acquisition Program Exemplary Garden Park students participate in cultural activities such as Charro Days, Black History Month and celebrate the Chinese New Year. Author Jose Luis Orozco visited Garden Park and read to students from his published books. World renown artists Del Castillo encouraged our students to do well during the STAAR Rally. 7 Digital Learning Environment rated Recognized Parents can keep up with activities at Garden Park by viewing the school’s website. Teachers can collaborate with colleagues throughout the state through Project Share. Students attend computer labs to work on reinforcement of skills taught in the classroom. GARDEN PARK ELEMENTARY

8 Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Exemplary Students are encouraged to stay in school by participating in Red Ribbon Week activities, Career Day and College Day Planning. Speakers also come to Garden Park to speak to students about graduating from high school and furthering their education by attending college. GARDEN PARK ELEMENTARY

9 Gifted and Talented Program rated Recognized The students in the Gifted and Talented Program participate in various activities such as Brainsville and Science Fair. Several students placed at district competition. Students also participated in Black History Month by presenting reports on famous Black Americans. GARDEN PARK ELEMENTARY
