6. Practice With Imagery
Writers use imagery to appeal to the senses. They do this by adding details about color, texture, scent, and so forth. The same idea can often be presented in different ways, to appeal to different senses. The sentence below gives a straightforward description of an event. As the snow fell, she walked down the street with a cup of hot chocolate. Rewrite the sentence 5 times, using words that appeal to each of the 5 senses: hearing, smell, touch, taste, and sight.
