7 Man charged in shooting of 7-year-old Detroit girl. April 14, 2005 BY BEN SCHMITT FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER An 18-year-old man was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of assault with intent to murder in connection with Friday's shooting of a 7-year-old girl in southwest Detroit. Police arrested Alex Acosta on a traffic stop Wednesday in Saginaw, where police say he was staying with relatives. Police immediately noticed there was a warrant for his arrest. Acosta is accused of shooting 7-year-old Marguerita Gallardo in the head Friday as she sat eating dinner in her home. Bullets crashed through the front window of the home during a shootout in the street, and one struck her. Marguerita is in critical but stable condition. On Wednesday, Acosta's bond was set at $200,000 in Detroit's 36th District Court.
