2. THE COIN The 2 ½ dollar coin was the first coin to start the Mexican war. In 1848, the coin was made from part of the gold from the largest gold rush in history which was under way in California. It had the liberty girl on one side and the eagle on the other side. Precisely 1,389 quarters eagles marked with ‘’CAL’’ were made. Less than 200 still exist. It was the most legendary coin in American history.

3. I chose this artifact because it I thought it was a very interesting coin. We no longer have a 2 ½ dollar coin.
