Farming Uses Water from the Ganges is used to irrigate crops such as wheat, rice, sugarcane and cotton. There are very few native species of plants and animals left along the Ganges. Find a picture of one or more of these crops and paste it here.

Religious Uses Varanasi and Allahabad are holy cities where temples crowd the river banks. Steps, or ghats, lead down to the water. Pilgrims go down to bathe or to fill little bottles with the sacred water. Find a picture of the ghats, or steps, on the Ganges River and paste it here.
