2 Purpose and History of Request Used as Roadway Prior to Phase II Development – Platted as Roadway Upon Approval to Develop Phase II by BCC, Planning Commission, County Engineer, etc. Access Point to Phase II Development for All County Emergency Services – Okaloosa County Sheriff, Ambulance, Fire, Electric, Water, Gas, etc. – Used by Waste Mgmt., USPS, Schools, UPS, FedEx, Residents Alternate Evacuation Route During Emergencies Cherokee Bend Subdivision, Phase I and Phase II (173 Homes) Have Only One Entrance/Exit (John King Rd.) Avoid John King Rd Traffic by Utilizing Live Oak Church Rd. – Shortens Go-Around of Phase II Residents by Approx. 2 Miles Platted Map Showing Roadway Provided to Every Homeowner Upon Closing (Purchase) of Home Home Owners Association Meeting with District 1 County Commissioner Sherry Campbell, and Okaloosa County Water (2004) – Rejected Out of Hand by Okaloosa County Water Representative – Reason; Area Not a Road, Will Never Be a Road. Home Owners Association Discussions with District 1 County Commissioner Wayne Harris (April, 2010) – Claims property was always Utility Easement (emails available) Incorrect. Majority of Property belonged to Shoal Creek Home Owners Association Since 1996 Adjacent properties purchased in FY2000 and FY2003 by Board of County Commissioners for Use to Provide Water Resources to Fort Walton Beach
