Bona Fide Request and New Business Request Definitions

Interconnection Services Bona Fide Request (BFR) – a request for a network element, interconnection option, or service option required to be made available by FCC or Commission requirements pursuant to the Act. Definitions New Business Request (NBR) – a request for a new or modified feature or capability of an existing product or service, a new product or service that is not deployed within the BellSouth network, operations systems or business support systems, or a new or modified service option, that was not previously included in the customer’s Interconnection agreement and is not required by the Act.

Interconnection Services Bona Fide Request “What It Isn’t” A request that pertains to a product, service or system that is not required pursuant to the Telecommunications Act of 1996. STOP

Interconnection Services New Business Request “What It Is” Example Example - BellSouth Customer Network Management (BSCNM) exists in the Access tariff. OC interfaces exist in BSCNM but are not in tariff. Example Example – A CLEC requests access to daily AMA usage records from BellSouth central offices which serve the requesting CLEC’s customers.

Interconnection Services New Business Request “What It Isn’t” Example Example - Provide ability to view pending orders for CLEC customers via CSOTS on orders written by BellSouth to convert CLEC customers. – This should be submitted to the Change Control Process. Example Example - Request for a CABS extract with BAN, CCNA, and Circuit ID. – This is a Professional Service product and should be routed to the CLEC Care group or your account team. STOP

Interconnection Services Bona Fide Request/New Business Request Final Points All requests must be submitted in writing from the CLEC to your account team or to the CLEC Care representative assigned to your account. Requests will be processed pursuant to the guidelines within the BFR/NBR section of your Interconnection Agreement. For questions concerning the BFR/NBR process, please contact your account team, your Local Contract Manager or your Contract Negotiator.
