2  Prior to 2001: Nuclear activities (promotion and regulation) were handled by a Nuclear Energy department (NED) in the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (MEMR). 2

3  In 2001: Nuclear Energy and Radiation Protection (No. 29 for the year 2001) was issued. Accordingly, the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) was established to undertake both promotion and regulation of nuclear applications in the country. 3

4  In July 2007: Nuclear Energy and Radiation Protection Law No. 29 for the year 2001 was replaced with two laws which established two independent entities:  The Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) pursuant to the Nuclear Energy Law (No. 42 for the year 2007)  The Radiation and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (RNRC), pursuant to the Nuclear Safety and Security and Radiation Protection Law No. 43 for the year 2007. 4

5  In May 2008: Nuclear Safety and Security and Radiation Protection Law No. 43 for the year 2007, was amended, Jordan Nuclear Regulatory Commission (JNRC) was established. 5

6  Regulate and control the use of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation;  Protect the environment, human health and property from the hazards of contamination and exposure to ionizing radiation in accordance with the provisions of this law, and to  Ensure the fulfilment of requirements of public safety, radiation protection, and nuclear safety and security. 6

7  Although Jordan Nuclear Regulatory Commission has been established in 2008, until 2012 no functional structure or even Job description system has been done, hence the training of human resources was unsystematic operation during the last years. 7

8  In 1/1/2012 the Jordanian Government takes a bold step toward the restructure of the governmental independent units (that includes JNRC) and to ensure that they were applying a systematic management approach toward the achieving of the goals for which these units were commissioned for. 8

9  In October 2012 the government decided to change the top managerial level of JNRC, the new management started a real decision toward the organization of JNRC.  in November 2012 the directorate of strategic planning has been established. 9

10  To build the organizational structure for the Commission and its functional units.  To commence the distribution of roles and developing the Job description for all the jobs in JNRC.  To ensure that the human resources meet the criteria for the positions that they occupy.  To build a human resources development plan that consists of training needs, quantitative and qualitative studies and analysis, and the plans for circulating and replacement. 10
