2. What’s in Your Refrigerator?
Project Objectives:
-To recognize math units of measure used in everyday life.
-To identify customary and metric units of capacity.
-To carry out simple conversions of customary and metric units of capacity.

3. What's in Your Refrigerator?
You will locate 10 items in your refrigerator and find both the customary and/or metric unit of measure for each item.
You will change the customary unit of measure to another unit of standard measure for five items.
You will change the metric unit of measure to another metric unit of measure for five items.

4. What’s In Your Refrigerator? Procedures – or… “Hey, What do I do?”
Open the refrigerator.
Write down the names of ten items on your chart.
Check off whether the item is given in the customary unit of measure and/or the metric unit of measure.
Write down the capacity of 5 items in their customary measure and then change the unit of capacity.
Write down the capacity of 5 items in their metric measure and change the unit of capacity.

1 quart (qt) = 2 pints
1 quart (qt) = 4 cups
1 gallon (gal) = 4 quarts
1 gallon (gal) = 8 pints
1 gallon (gal) = 16 cups
Metric Units
1 liter = 1,000 milliliters
Milli = 1/1000th So liters are greater or hold more than milliliters. Changing from one metric unit to another involves multiplying or dividing by 10.
