Regeneration city (tram line)
2
Aldayjover Saragossa tramway Saragossa, Spain 2011 site area: 180,500 m2 project cost: 210 euro/m2
3
Enviromental Removing hadges( by removing the existing hedges which separated pedestrian transit from vehicle traffic, meintance costs are cut and a space free from visual obstacles is opened up, which fosters safety) Low meintance gravel gardens ( this counteracts the use of grass beneath the rails in the dry Zaragoza climate)
4
Social Invirogating the suburbs- the tramway Integrating pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and cars (into the public space along the tramway which also incorporates squares and key points, which were formerly cut off by traffic for the pedestrian)
5
Ensuring accessibility-creation single levels and ramps (to favour the pedestrian continuity, all the fuxes are set at the same level, without kerbs or level changes) Creating microclimate- green roof canopies (the tramp stops have green roof which minimaze the run-off. They adapt to Saragossa s harsh climate. The tram stops generate shade and protect from wind)
7
Formal Creating a composition of lawn, asphalt, decking and earth (the system of logitudinal strips which separate the pavements, roads, lawn, cycle path, pedestrian strip and earth is peppered with wooden platforms, mouds and play areas are curved shapes made from recycled rubber)
8
Customizing-benches, groups of chairs and tables (these are made using panels with a green finish on galvanized steel stands which are screwed down)
9
Backlit tram stops (they give identity to the intervention and their presence lends rhytm to the nightscape along the tramway)
10
Proposed Tram & Pedestrian Precinct in Des Voeux Road Central Location: Hong Kong
11
One of the areas of worst air pollution in central of Hong Kong
12
Problems High levels of pollution mainly arising from vehicles (reduction in vehicle numbers is necessary) Traffic congestion is creating delays to all forms of public transport There is not one tree and not enough greening, contributing to a hot and suffocating urban environment. Buildings with continuous facades lining both sides of the road forming a canyon-effect that traps pollutants and limits sunlight. It is crowded and unpleasant to walk along the generally narrow and unsheltered pedestrian walkways. Street furniture and pavements do not have a consistent design theme.Seats are not available, which make it unwelcoming and disconnected.
13
There is an absence of universal access for the elderly and disabled There is inadequate space for pedestrians and servicing activities, creating congestions in the narrow footpaths and forcing people onto the road carriageways. A lot of dangerous jay-walking occur at junctions There is no overall character or an identity that reflect this part of the city as a major international financial business district
