2 What happened?  He hurt himself while he was hammering.  While he was hammering, he hurt himself.  He hurt his thumb while he was working.  While he was working, he hit his thumb with a hammer. hurt – hurt What happened?  He hurt his back while he was lifting the box.  While he was lifting the box, he hurt his back.  He hurt his back while he was picking up the box.

13 What happened?  Her necklace broke while she was wearing it.  While she was wearing her necklace, it broke.  She broke her necklace while she was pulling on it. break – broke What happened?  The bag broke while she was carrying it.  While she was carrying the bag, it broke.  She was taking the garbage outside when the bag broke.

14 What happened?  He fell off his horse while he was riding it.  While he was riding his horse, he fell off it. fell – fall What happened?  He fell down while he was skateboarding.  While he was skateboarding, he fell down.
