7. A digital subscriber line access multiplexer DSLAM, is a network device, often located in the telephone exchanges of the telecommunications operators. 8. . LAN SWITCH: Lan Switches provide gigabit Ethernet interfaces and fast Ethernet interfaces for connecting internetworking elements such as BRAS,DSLAM etc.. Tier 1 switches are gigabit Ethernet aggregation switches to which BRAS and Tier 2 LAN switches are connected through GE/FE interfaces.. All DSLAM are aggregated to Tier 2 switches through FE interfaces except 48 ports DSLAM are aggregated through GE interfaces.
