Practice your poem tonight using the feedback from your peers/me to enhance your emotions. 2. Last Rough Draft of Memorized Poem with Emotions and Gestures Due Thursday and Friday of this week! 3. Vote for Class Champions on Friday, 1/17. 4. Final Memorized Poem Due Tues thru Fri of next week (Jan. 21-24).

3 R ECITING Y OUR P OEM Stand behind your chair and recite your poem. Practice reciting your poem over and over for 5 minutes. Title of poem Author Recite Poem

4 E XPLORING S ONIC P ATTERNS 1. Follow Directions on Handout for: 1. Individual Exploration: Sonic Patterns 2. Group Exploration: Count Off in Groups of 3. Follow the directions for tasks 1-4 on the handout. 3. Remember: EACH MEMBER OF THE GROUP MUST PERFORM EACH OF THE TASKS. HAVE EACH MEMBER OF THE GROUP TAKE A TURN PERFORMING.

5 E XPLORING S ONIC P ATTERNS Finish tasks 3-4 Choose 5 “playable” words from your poem Write them down on a sheet of paper and underline the “playable” parts You and your partner will now “play” each person’s words with the emotion that I give you. The person whose birthday is coming the soonest should be the first list of words that you each play. 1. Loud and angry 2. Melodramatic and sad 3. Crazy excitement 4. Utter disappointment 5. Like an old, contemplative man
