6 New National Curriculum (Sep 2014) – increased emphasis on research, for example into the impact of individuals in their field: art, science etc. new subject of Computing to add to previous ICT expectations emphasis within drama and PE on evaluating own performance Children tell us … they enjoy learning when they can ask questions and can pursue their interests – more self-directed learning Children learn best when … they are engaged with their learning learning is personalised – the use of different apps makes this possible they can collaborate meaningfully they create as well as consume Classroom-based technology provides instant access to information to enhance learning. It does not replace the teacher, but adds to the repertoire of teaching resources that a teacher can call upon to use. It can help to bring learning to life in the classroom. Links with home … we already use Mathletics in school at home; we could make much better use of Fronter and other online resources. 8 Matched Funding Do you know that many companies run schemes where staff raising money for charity can get matched funding? (Friends is a registered charity) In the past we have been supported by Vodafone and Barclays but other companies also run scheme which may include: Alliance & Leicester, ASDA, BP, BT, Camelot, DHL, Diageo, Gap, Halifax, HSBC, Kingfisher, Lloyds, & Shell Please ask you employer if they support local charities via Matched Funding. Friends of St Hugh AGM – Oct 2014 Maximising profits with minimal effort 8 Sponsorship & Matched Funding Sponsorship We’d love to hear from local businesses who would like to sponsor events and/or stalls e.g. quiz night / bouncy castle hire for the Summer Fair. In return, we offer a public thank you via notices on the day and the Friends newsletter.
