2. Why Assessment for Learning? Norwegian regulation concerning the Education Act states (among other): § 3-11. Formative assessment Formative assessment is to be implemented as a tool in the learning process, as a basis for adapted learning and contribute to the stundent’s development. The assessment is to be given on a regular basis and can be both oral and written. § 3-12. Self-assessment The student’s self-assessment is a part of the formative assessment. The student is to take active part in assessing his or her own work, skills and progression.
