5 Compared to 1960 Today, the average American annually consumes 59 pounds more meat, 57 pounds of which is chicken.

6 One Cow in Alberta On May 20, Canada announced they had found a cow in Alberta with BSE. Most countries immediately stopped importing Canadian cattle and beef. 9% of the beef Americans ate in 2002 came from cattle born in Canada
