Hi, I’m Perky Pencil! I work in this school to help kids like you be better writers.
3
My big job is to help you think like a writer. Today I will help you think about Sentence Fluency.
4
Sentence Fluency means your story sounds right when you read it out loud.
5
Use some short sentences… and some long sentences when you write.
6
Sometimes writers use a word pattern to get a rhythm for their story, song, or poem.
7
Use different words to begin your sentences. Make your sentences sound natural, like the way you talk.
8
Read your sentences... to make sure they are complete.
9
As you write, keep reading your story and ask yourself these questions...
10
How does my story sound when I read? How many sentences did I write? Do my sentences tell a story completely?
11
Good writers are always looking for new ways to stretch sentences. Use who, what, when, where, and why to help you write a sentence.
12
That’s all for now, friends. Remember… when you read your story it should sound right.
