CE 101Dr SaMeH2 The aim of this course is to acquire the student the basics of general geology including the earth sciences, minerals, rocks and their physical, chemical and mechanical properties. Other goals, involves: provide the students with different applications Engineering Geology in the field of Civil Engineering, such as, tunnels, foundations, groundwater, earthquake, and others structures. This will be achieved through understanding the geological structures, mechanical properties of rocks and reading, and understanding geological maps. Course Goals
3
CE 101Dr SaMeH3 Provide the student with the rule of geotechnical engineering in different civil engineering works, in addition to acquire him skills in the following main topics: understand important information about Earth sciences. distinguish between the different types of minerals and rocks. point out the desired natural materials for the construction purposes according to the geotechnical properties of rocks. study the mechanical properties of construction and ornamental stones. Objectives
4
CE 101Dr SaMeH4 appreciate the geological conditions of tunnels, foundation, dams’ sites and the groundwater wells. At the end of the course, the student will be able to read and understand simple geological maps. Objectives
