3. Comparing and Ordering Decimals To compare decimals you look at the biggest(furthest left) place value and compare digits going from left to right, just like you read a book. Least to greatest means to go from the smallest number to the biggest number. Greatest to least means to go from the biggest number to the smallest number. Fastest to slowest means to go from least to greatest. Don’t you want to have the smallest time to win a race???? Slowest to fastest means to go from greatest to least. You don’t want to have the slowest time in a race, do you?

4. Adding Decimals To add decimals you have to line up your decimal point. Ex: 1.2 + 12.3=1.4 + 2.35= 1.21.40 +12.3 +2.35 13.53.75 You add zero’s to the end of your decimal to make it easier to add, when needed.

5. Subtracting Decimals To subtract decimals you have to line up the decimal point. Then you subtract just like you would as if there were not a decimal. Ex: 125.23 - 22.11 = 125.23 22.11 103.12 You can add zeros as needed just like when you add decimals.
