Getting started After installing the software on your computer, connect the document camera to your computer using the USB cable.

Aver + Software Menus These are the main menus that you will use to save the file, copy and paste, set up voting and more.

Aver + Software Control Panel This is were you will add pages to your project. Move forward and backward through the pages, go to full screen, single page, split screen or virtual mode. This panel is at the top of the screen when the Aver+ software opens.

Aver + Software Toolbar This is where you select the different tools that you can use with your AverPens. We will go over each tool in just a minute. This toolbar opens with the software and appears at the bottom of the page.

Aver + Software Options Panel This panel changes with each tool that is selected. We will cover each one when we talk about each tool. This panel appears on the left side when the Aver+ software opens.

Aver + Software Page Browser This panel opens when you select it from the Windows menu at the top of the page. This gives you a thumbnail of each page in a menu bar that you can also scroll through to select the page that you want.

The Move Tool The Move Tool is your cursor. It allows you to select and move things on the screen. The Options Panel has two other neat tools, Spotlight and Screen Visor. Spotlight grays out the screen except for the oval that you move over the item that you want spotlighted. Screen Visor puts a curtain over the screen and allows you to un-cover it from the right side or from the bottom.

Tools - Draw There are 3 tools to use for drawing. These are found on your toolbar.

Draw – Freehand and Line With the Freehand and Line tools, you will notice that you have 4 different pens set up for you. You can edit any of the pens by color, style or end points. You draw by pressing down on the pen tip to any surface and writing like you normally would.

Draw – Freehand and Line If you want to edit a pen, turn on the Property Panel and change what you want to. Any changes will remain the same until you change it again, even if you close the program.

Tools - Eraser The Eraser has three different sizes. You can also use the end of the pen as an eraser. It also has 4 special buttons that will: Clear all Freehand Clear all Shapes and Lines Clear the Page Clear the Background Turn the pen over and use the end as an eraser.

The Text Tool You can add text by selecting the Text Tool In the Options Panel, you will have 4 different fonts to choose from. Select on and then click and drag out your text box where you want it on the page. You can change the text in the Property Panel. Roses are red Violets are blue Flowers are nice But my AverPens are AWESOME !

The Shape Tool You can add shapes to your page by selecting the Shapes Tool. The Shapes Option Panel has 4 shapes to choose from. The Property Panel will let you change the shapes that are there.

Special Tools Special Tools have several options for you to choose from. You can put in: Unifix Cubes, Tangrams, Geometric shapes Dice, Timers, Rulers Math grids On screen Keyboard

Control the Document Camera With the AverPens, a remote mouse, mobi pad or iPad you can also control your AverVision Document Camera. Just click the camera icon In the Options Panel you have: Zoom Options, Zoom Reset, Auto Focus, Freeze, Rotate, Image Effect Options, Doc Cam Recording, Doc Cam Recapture, Live Video Sharing, and Settings.

Document Camera - Capture Aver-Capture allows you to take a picture of anything on your screen. You can create an image by: screen capture page capture region capture (select) It is a great way to create a tutorial (I captured the images for this presentation)

Document Camera – Aver Record Aver-Record captures live video. The video also records the sound. You can choose to record the whole screen or just the project page.

Document Camera – Aver Record You can create great lessons for your students and then record it for those that are absent and put it up online for them to see.

Student Aver Pens Student Pens only work when they are activated. To activate the pens drag the pen number onto the screen.

Student Aver Pens You can only drag the student pens onto the screen that are turned on. For example, the number two pen has been turned on in the image below. You turn the pens on by holding down the cap at the end of the pen until the light starts flashing.

AverPens Split Window One of my favorite applications of this is the flash app feature that is available. More than one student can do it at one time ! AverPens - Group Response System First, you will need to Edit the Vote page. Do this by clicking on GRS, and select Edit Vote Page.

AverPens - Group Response System You can choose three types of questions from this menu. True or False Multiple Choice Multiple Answer Then type in your question and the answers.

AverPens - Group Response System It defaults with 6 answers but you can use the minus and plus buttons to add or remove answers from the list. Then just put a check mark in the answer that is the correct answer and click OK. You can create as many questions on separate pages as you want, then you are ready to take the test.

AverPens - Group Response System Click on the GRS button in the toolbar to get the Voting Page up. In order to use the Voting Page you cannot have the Student Pens active, that panel must be closed. When turning on the Voting Page, it activates the Students Pens. Voting will start when you click start. Voting will finish when you click Stop.

AverPens - Group Response System Then the Aver+ software will create a chart for that question and will post it on the screen.

Virtual Transparency Mode Virtual Transparency Mode will allow you to leave the Aver+ software and navigate your computer like a wireless mouse. You will still be able to use the Aver+ tools.

Virtual Transparency Mode When you are done, click the Return to Normal Mode button. You can add a screen capture of what you just did to a page. Or, click No and you will be back in Normal Mode.

OCR Optical Character Recognition (OCR) converts the typewritten text, or hand-printed text from the scanned image or captured image using AVerVision document camera into editable typewritten text.

1. Share and save examples of students’ work. 2. Use the camera like a scanner. 3. Demonstrate a process in science, art, or for an assignment. 4. Project and print a copy of a page if you run short. 5. Project a live image of the class and what they are doing. 6. Time lapse photography of the class or a process. 7. Look closely at items e.g. fish scales, star fish, a hatching egg, a butterfly emerging from a cocoon, salmon eggs (we saw the embryos moving inside!) 8. Show calculators, clocks, thermometers and iPads so everyone can see. 9. Manipulate letters and words for sorting. 10. Filling out a graphic organizer. Here are my TOP 10
