2 Swiss Armed Forces Chief Armed Forces Joint Staff The armed forces‘ political mission The armed forces support the civilian authorities in preparing and conducting the UEFA EURO 2008 within the context of a subsidiary operation. guarantee the maintenance of air sovereignty, if necessary in cooperation with Switzerland‘s neighbouring states.

The armed forces are a capable partner within the Swiss national security network. The Swiss armed forces provide their services on a subsidiary basis. The civilian authorities are responsible for the conduct of operations. The cooperation between civilian and military authorities works. Conclusion
