Hindu Worship To research on Hindu worship in the mandir, in the home and elsewhere; To reflect on this material and use it to produce an assessment

Worship in the mandir Describe and explain Hindu worship in the mandir as fully as you can. Among other things you should cover: things worshippers do when they arrive; things they do during their time in the temple; the arti ceremony; offerings; prashad; the murtis; the linga; the layout of the prayer hall; etc.; etc.

Worship in the home Describe and explain Hindu worship in the home as fully as you can. Among other things you could cover: puja at home the puja tray shrines worship at particular festivals

Other Forms of Worship Cover at least some of the other ways in which Hindus worship outside the mandir: yoga meditation good deeds music and dance.

Hindu Worship Assessment: Pupil Version Level Three Briefly describe some key features of Hindu worship in the mandir. There may be some basic Hindu beliefs and stories about Gods. Level Four Use a developing religious vocabulary. Clearly describe main features of Hindu worship: such as what happens in the temple and how things there are used. Start to suggest why mandirs have these features, and what they symbolise. Identify some similarities and differences between Hindu worship and other religions.

Level Five Use an increasingly wide religious vocabulary. Fully describe and explain Hindu worship in the mandir. Identify and explain similarities and differences between Hindu worship and other religions. Begin to recognise how Hindu worship varies, probably by commenting on forms of worship outside the mandir. Level Six Use an excellent religious vocabulary. Fully examine and explain the different forms of Hindu worship inside and outside the mandir. Show a very good understanding of the beliefs that are the foundation of Hindu worship. Reflect very thoughtfully on these beliefs, and on Hindu worship, and link them to your own lives. Level Seven Use the widest possible religious vocabulary. Comprehensively describe and explain Hindu worship, recognising and explaining the great variety of practices. Successfully comment on the historical and cultural influences on Hindu worship. Comment especially thoughtfully on Hindu worship, expressing your own views with particular insight.

Your Work Your work can be produced in any form you wish. An essay Letter(s) a Leaflet/booklet or A detailed poster or series of posters. It could include: Some role play A speech or A PowerPoint. You must be prepared to present anything like these last three in front of the rest of the class, where your work will be assessed by your classmates.
