2 What is Pink Sunday/ Worship in Pink Weekend? The National Consortium of Black Women in Ministry (NCBWIM), Nashville Chapter and the Greater Nashville affiliate of Susan G. Komen ® have partnered to provide a breast health outreach initiative to Middle Tenessee by Sponsoring Pink Sunday/ Worship in Pink (PS/WIP).

3 What is Pink Sunday/ Worship in Pink Weekend? Hundreds of churches join in the effort to “Celebrate Life- Increase Awarness- Inspire Hope” by spreading the message of early detection and honoring survivors.

4 Did You Know? 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer within her lifetime.

5 Did you know? Men can get breast cancer too. Over 2,200 men are expected to be diagnosed in the U.S. in 2013.

6 Did you know? Over 230,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. More than 5,000 of these women will be in Tennessee.

7 Did you know? Even though Caucasian women get breast cancer at higher rates, African American women are more likely to die from breast cancer.

8 Did you know? Breast cancer is NOT a death sentence! When caught early, the 5-year survival rate is 98%.

9 What can you do?

10 PRACTICE BREAST SELF-AWARENESS (BSA) 1.Know your risk 2.Get screened 3.Know what is normal for you 4.Make healthy lifestyle choices

11 1. KNOW YOUR RISK Talk to your family about your family health history Talk to your health care provider about your personal risk of breast cancer

12 2. GET SCREENED Ask your health care provider which screening tests are right for you if you are at higher risk Have a mammogram every year starting at age 40 if you are at average risk Have a clinical breast exam at least every 3 years starting at 20, and every year starting at 40

13 3. KNOW WHAT IS NORMAL FOR YOU Know how your breasts look and feel Report changes to your health care provider right away

14 4. MAKE HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHOICES Maintain a healthy weight Add exercise into your routine Limit alcohol intake
