Confession 1.Awareness of the seriousness of the offense

Confession 2.Deep appreciation for God’s sacrifice

Confession 3.Intention to end the practices requiring confession

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin! 1 John 2:1 “My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin! 1 John 2:1

“But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense, Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:1, 2 “But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense, Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:1, 2

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves.

We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that way may delight in Your will, and walk in your ways to the glory of your name. Amen. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that way may delight in Your will, and walk in your ways to the glory of your name. Amen.

Because of the incredible price required of God to forgive sin, prayers of confession should always be made in a respectful manner.
