COMMANDS: Therefore I want the men in every place to pray – 1 Tim. 2:8a Pray without ceasing – 1 Thess. 5:17 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit – Eph. 6:18a REASONS: God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ -Luke 18:13b If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.- 1 Jn 1:9 I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin.- Ps. 32:5b Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." –Phil. 4:6 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.- He. 4:16

The Approach of Faithful Men David’s ability to face the intense rigors of Kingship came from starting each morning with prayer. Daniel’s routine was followed strictly enough that wicked men were able to plan an elaborate conspiracy around the frequency and time of his prayers. The narrative of Jesus’ ministry is punctuated by repeated appointments to find time to pray alone.
