2 Bhargavi Balasubramanian– Vocal: Born to a culturally alive family, Bhargavi Balasubramanian is a talented performer and committed guru, both in vocal and instrumental music. She was initiated to vocal music by Smt Kokila Sundaram (a disciple of Lalgudi Gopala Iyer), and continued her training under Savita Narasimhan for some time. From 2000, Bhargavi has been receiving advanced training in vocal and chitravina from Chitravina Maestro N Ravikiran.. Performer Bhargavi has presented vocal and chitravina concerts for noted organizations such as Narada Gana Sabha, Mylapore Fine Arts, Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Chennai Fine Arts, Naada Inbam, Hamsadhwani, Carnatica, Kapali Fine Arts, Naada Brahmam, Nada Sudha during their Music Festivals in Chennai and other cities and in the Navaratri festivals in Kerala. She has played alongside her guru Ravikiran, performed duos with her husband, Chitravina P Ganesh and also presented ensemble recitals with flute, violin and percussion. Outside of India, Bhargavi has performed for reputed organisations in Cleveland, New Jersey, New York, Boston, Dallas, Minneapolis, Richmond, San Jose, San Diego and Toronto. She was featured as part of the ensemble for the world premiere of the operatic production, Ramayana in Five parts, in the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana festival, 2011. A recipient of the title ‘Sathya Nada Sundaram’ by the Bharatanjali Trust (Chennai), Bhargavi is also a part of Ravikiran’s melodic ensemble, Vintage Virtuosos. She was one of the lead singers in IFCM’s audio CD, “Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi’s Kamakshi Navavarana Krtis” and “Harisamarpanam”. She has also been featured in various programmes on Television channels such as Podhigai, Amrita, T T D, Jai Hind and SVBC for vocal and chitravina concerts. She has provided chitravina support for her guru Ravikiran in special features by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, and TV networks from France and Greece. Pedagogue : Bhargavi is also a much sought-after guru and a member of faculty of Ravikiran's International Foundation for Carnatic Music (IFCM). She has successfully trained students in India, USA and Middle Eastern Countries through live as well as online classes. She has also conducted workshops in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Madison and other cities in the USA and in Bangalore, Coimbatore etc in India and heads the Tiruppur chapter of IFCM. She has also been one of the teachers for Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana's Sustaining Sampradaya programme. Contributions: Bhargavi, is the architect of the acclaimed website dedicated to the great composer, Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi. She has assisted in publications including: Perfecting Carnatic Music (Level 1 and 2), Sada Sharanam, Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi – Life and Contributions and Navavaranams & Saptaratnas of Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi. She has edited several audio-visual productions related to music including those produced by IFCM, Tamil Nadu Government, acharyanet.com and the Hindu.Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi Suhas Rao – is an accomplished Carnatic musician and one of the top violinists of the younger generation in the US. He had his initial training in Carantic violin and vocal from the renowned teachers, Smt. Tara Anand and Smt. Geetha Murali respectively for more than 12 years. In addition, he has been receiving advanced training in Chennai from stalwarts like Sri Chitravina N. Ravikiran, Prof. T.R. Subramaniam, and Smt. A. Kanyakumari. He has won many awards and prizes in all major competitions in the U.S. like Cleveland Aradhana and CMANA of NJ, including the Gottuvadyam Narayana Iyengar award for creativity. In 2007, he was awarded the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council to further his training in Carnatic violin, and was featured in the Keepers of Tradition exhibit at the National Heritage Museum. Suhas started performing in concerts at the age of 12 and has performed throughout the U.S. and in India as both a solo artist and an accompanist, performing with eminent artists like Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. R.K. Srikantan, Sri Chitravina N. Ravikiran, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Prof. Trichy Sankaran, and the Carnatica Brothers. Lately, Suhas has been teaching both vocal and violin to many students. He is currently a senior at Harvard University. Ganesh Sankaranarayanan started learning mridangam at the age of ten from the renowned guru Sangita Kala Acharya Sri Kumbakonam Rajappa Iyer in Chennai, India. He has given many performances in Chennai and Chidamabaram before moving to US in 2000. Since then, he has accompanied several artists in US. He is currently undergoing advanced training under M. Lakshman a senior disciple of Palghat Sri T.R. Rajamani. Ganesh has also learned carnatic vocal music from his mother Smt. Saraswathy Sankaranarayanan. With his knowledge in vocal music, he seeks to provide a sensitive and sahityam-based accompaniment. Ganesh is a Research Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute..
