2 They chased the dogs, they killed the cats,
They made their nests in ladies hats, the rats! They stole the cheese, they stole the jam, They ate their way through legs of ham, the rats! They nibbled, scratched and squeaked and shrieked They scuttled, scampered, rumbled, tumbled, rats!

3 They bit the babies in the cradles,
Gnawed the legs of people’s tables, RATS! They made the ladies stand on chairs, They made the children run upstairs, the RATS! The people really were afraid, They asked the mayor to save them from the RATS!
