3 COACH LEARNING EXPERIENCE #7 “Eat the Frog” Objectives: #1-Participants will be introduced to the concept of being Comfortable with the Uncomfortable known as “Eat the Frog” To be effective professionals who make a difference for the people we serve, we must be intentional in our thinking & actions. A key decision is to learn to be Comfortable with the Uncomfortable. 3

5 Being able to grow & become effective is all part of being in the Stretch Zone. Being able to become Comfortable with Uncomfortable situations is a key to growth. One way to learn to become Comfortable with the Uncomfortable is learning to “Eat the Frog” 5

7 Coach Learning Experience # 7 “Eat the Frog” Deal with issues /concerns up front Don’t let the negative and oppositional person( Black Hat) gain momentum and destroy what is possible Don’t let the Red Hat intimidate you Negative cultures & people problems will be well nourished and grow if not dealt with right away To create success, eat the frog early before it becomes a 40 pounder 7

12 “ Eat the Frog” Using A Floodlight Approach Begin planning & problem solving meetings with intentional conversations about self-assessing ourselves & our service delivery culture Begin to take a critical look at the contributions that we have provided that have lead to the success of the people we serve. Taking a critical look at our actions that have lead to an adverse impact on quality of life for the people we serve. Begin to have intentional conversations about Collaboration among the contributing members of our service delivery system that will result helping people we mutually serve to have a Good Life Plan honest & intentional discussions about organizational & caregiver contributions and accountability 12
