2. 8TH Meeting of Southern European Libraries' Consortia (SELL), MAY 30-31, 2008 Trieste University (Italy) CILEA is a Consortium of 10 Universities in Lombardia, established in 1975. The current partners are: Politecnico di Milano Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Università Commerciale "L. Bocconi" Università degli Studi di Milano Università degli Studi di Pavia Università degli Studi di Brescia (by 1983) Università degli Studi di Bergamo (by 1987) Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca (by 2000) Università degli Studi dell'Insubria (by 2001) Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione IULM (by 2006) CILEA is among the most advanced supercomputing centres in Europe. According to its statute, CILEA has many different purposes. CILEA offers several services to scientific users and libraries, among which the building of automation systems for libraries, even within the National Library Service. The Consortium promotes in particular collaborative initiatives involving the creation of nodes used by several institutes. CILEA

3. 8TH Meeting of Southern European Libraries' Consortia (SELL), MAY 30-31, 2008 Trieste University (Italy) In 1998 CILEA started the project of the CILEA digital library (CDL) http://cdl.cilea.it, with the aim of making available to its users digital contents (magazines, monographs and databases). http://cdl.cilea.it It provides cooperative initiatives with organisational and commercial support, technical management and assistance for the access. All the contents managed by the CDL are viewable on the Internet. A part of the data is stored permanently in the CILEA servers, guaranteeing the access even after the contract with the publisher has expired. 13. CDL: Archiving and Preservation All acquired data are archived and preserved. Any authorized user, according to the license, can access to the remote publisher server and to the local CDL server too.
