Albany Humane Society Mission Statement n “Prevent cruelty to animals; provide services, that assist other agencies in dealing with the legal/health consequences of animals who interfaces with human populations; relieve the suffering of animals; and extend humane education to people in the greater Doughtery County area of Southwest Georgia.”

As a Volunteer n You agree to a 6 months 4 hours a week commitment n You are required to have a love for animals. n You will have to give consent for a background check. n You are required to have a positive attitude and willing to work n You are required to complete task which was accepted n To treat confidential material confidential

As a Volunteer n You have the right to be heard-to feel free to make educated suggestions and have respect shown for a honest opinion. n You have the right to be treated as a coworker and not “free help”. n The right to recognition, appreciation, and support from the staff. n As of today 8/19/2005 there are 75 volunteers.

Obstacles & Challenges n Finding homes for more than 5600 animals that are being humanely euthanisied. n Educating general public about spay and neuter programs to prevent pet overpopulation. n State funds to assist low income pet owners with spay & neuter programs. n Information provided by Kaye, Bell Humane Society Administrator, and Donna Strickland, Executive Director

Albany Humane Society Goals n Open new building to house 2500 more animals for adoption n Stop pet overpopulation and animal abuse n Find good lifelong homes through pet adoptions n To see that all unwanted, lost, abused, and neglected abandon companion animals are comfortable, fed, and treated with kindness and treated humanely.
