2. Building Titanic Titanic was built in 1909. It was launched in 1911. It was built in Harland & Wolff shipyard. Titanic was the biggest ship at the time.

4. The maiden voyage A third class ticket cost around £8 – about £380 ($380) today. A second class ticket cost around £12- £580 ($900) today. A first class ticket cost around £945 - £45,400 ($71,300) The maiden voyage was on April 10 1912.

5. Staff on Titanic The captain. Edward James Smith, had over 40 years ‘ experience commanding large passenger liners. As well as giving orders about the course and speed of the ship, he also entertained and dined with importan passengers.

7. Abandon ship Orders were given to abandon ship but most passengers refused to go because the believed that Titanic was unsinkable. Some brave stewards went down to the 3 rd class deck to help the passengers get up and into a life boat.
