In the 2011-2012 School Year, the P-20 Task Force created 4 subcommittees: Alignment; Educator Preparation; STEM; and Leadership In June/July, the Framework subcommittee composed of 1 representative from each of the 4 committees plus a representative for the Deans of the Schools of Education worked to create the Framework for the Preparation of Highly Effective Educators in the Texas A&M System In August/September the Education Deans further refined the framework focusing on outcome measures and implementation strategies

Build teacher recruitment programs in STEM areas Design school leadership preparation to support new realities Improve PK-6 teaching practices in STEM areas Enhance the preparation of educators for virtual settings Collaborate on research and development with partnering institutions Develop and strengthen community college, district and community partnerships Align coursework and programs internally and externally Develop efficient and responsive models for educator preparation Changing the Face of Public Education to Impact New Realities A Framework for the Preparation of Highly Effective Educators in The Texas A&M System

6. The Framework is based on: (a) the 1996 TAMUS Regents Initiative; (b) the work of the subcommittees; (c) best practices from various institutions; and (d) Feedback as drafts have been sent to the Deans and presented to the Board of Regents

7. Next step – today is to solicit feedback from Superintendents, University Administration, and Faculty to further refine the P-20 Framework in order to maximize student achievement and potential
