There are many reasons why cats develop urinary problems.
3
One cause is inflammation of the lower urinary tract.
4
If crystals or stones form in the urinary tract, they can obstruct the passing of urine, especially in male cats.
5
Other factors that increase the likelihood of a urinary problem are….
6
High levels of certain minerals in your cat’s diet can increase the chance of crystal and/or stone formation.
7
Lack of exercise, living mainly indoors, dirty litter boxes and reduced water intake can cause cats to urinate less frequently. This can lead to infection and/or the formation of crystals or stones.
8
Overweight cats are more prone to urinary problems
9
Straining when urinating Urinating in unusual places Vocalizing when urinating Blood in urine Increased frequency in urination Incontinence
