It is a give and take solution where you are the teacher (of your own language) and the student (of a foreign language). A Tandem is the best way of learning a foreign language. Mr. Raúl García International Relations Department CHARACTERISTICS Two persons, two roles: expert (in own language and culture) and student. The partners must have a minimum level of the language.

Mr. Raúl García International Relations Department PRINCIPLES 1- Principle of Reciprocity: successful learning in tandem is based on the reciprocal dependence and mutual support of the partners. Both partners should contribute equally to their work together: Same amount of time to each language. Same amount of energy in preparation. Same interest in the learning success of their partner.

Mr. Raúl García International Relations Department PRINCIPLES 2- Principle of Learner Autonomy: all tandem partners are responsible for their own learning: what they want to learn and when.

Mr. Raúl García International Relations Department GENERAL OBJETIVES To learn more about one another’s character and culture. To help one another improve their language skills. To exchange additional knowledge - for example about their professional life.

Mr. Raúl García International Relations Department SPECIFIC OBJETIVES To learn conversational expressions. To learn situations. To improve the pronuntiation speaking or reading. To learn specific vocabulary. To learn the way of life. Etc...

In the next meetings: 1- To establish the objetive of that meeting. 2- To begin the learning. 3- To change the roles of the participants. (expert - student)
