12
PROJECT CENTROPE MAP Challenges Centrope MAP Centrope MAP challenges Legal planning responsibilities on different levels Data responsibilities on different levels Administrative boundaries = data boundaries No „common data infrastructure“ available, solely „isolated applications“ inefficiencies, costs,... (not only technical problems...)
13
PROJECT CENTROPE MAP Project approach Centrope MAP Centrope MAP is a process not a single project - an ongoing cross-border exchange of planning related information with benefits for all participating partners. Centrope MAP does not generate new data itself but relies on integrating, structuring and harmonizing existing Information from the data maintaining sources. Data will be made available via OGC standard´s compliant web map services. Quality of Centrope MAP is depending on quality and up-to-dateness of the provided information! Centrope MAP is an open system, that is able to integrate digital information from different scale levels and different sources. Centrope MAP data itself can also be integrated in external applications via OGC WMS. In addition and linked with other Web-Map-Service applications - no Competitor!

15
PROJECT CENTROPE MAP Work steps Project phase III Integration and harmonization of further spatial data Corine Land Cover data 2000 for Austria Natura2000 data for Burgenland Macon data update for Czech republic, Slovakia and Hungary Teleatlas street data for Burgenland and Lower Austria „Centrope“ Satelite image a.o. Integration of further statistical data as accessible Development and Implementation of a Web Map Server and Client Solution for displaying, integrating and exchange of OGC-compliant WMS services Consulting and communication on regionwide data exchange mechanisms (workshops, information dissemination)

19
PROJECT CENTROPE MAP Develop spatio-temporal matrix for attribute data Which data for which region, collected when Define attribute data catalogue of „most wanted data classes“ Demography, Migration Economy, Household income Commuter, Transport statistics Environmental indicators, a.o. Overcome the „language barrier“ (Database with statistical/ planning related technical terms) Statistical data challenges
20
PROJECT CENTROPE MAP Project Implementation – DATA Which administrative unit or institution can provide the data? Nomenclature and classifications already according to EUROSTAT standards? Which file format? Ongoing cooperation with statistic units and GIS/ data departments of the states and regions within Centrope

41
PROJECT CENTROPE MAP Harmonize and integrate additional data replace actual data with more precise information Overcome language barriers – idea: online dictionary with technical terms Adjustment of WMS contents for spatial and for attribute data Development of a common map layout for services (SLD?) Common legend layout for equal content consistent maps and comparable thematic classes Main tasks for future cooperation
42
PROJECT CENTROPE MAP Integration of Project data (permanent back flow enhances the system!) Secured Server operation Further networking and use of Synergy effects Regional / National / European (BEV price model, INSPIRE) Even global developments [Google Maps] Common approach with all partners in the region! (Financing) Main tasks for future cooperation
