1 v1.0 - 20050426 Telecommunications Industry AssociationTR41.3.9-08-05-004-L

2 2 Comments to Draft 02 of SP-3-0219-AD1 TIA-1083-1 Apr.18, 2008/Panasonic Clause 3.2.3: (perpendicular) clause 3.2.3, 1 b) refer to TIA-810-B subclause 4.4 through 4.8 for artificial ear. subclause 4.7 of TIA-810-B: the preferred ear simulator is type 3.3. Panasonic’s Comment: We would like to comment that clause 3.2.3, 1 b) is revised as follows. 1 b) place the handset receiver on the artificial ear using the high leak condition specified in TIA-810-B subclauses 4.4, 4.7 and 4.8, except the preferred ear simulator is either type 1 or type 3.3 artificial ear. The reason is as follows: We would like to propose to add “type 1” artificial ear (ear simulator), as optional: This is better because of following reasons: 1) Type 1 artificial ear is used for FCC Part 68 measurement, so it is common and popular usage 2) Type 1 artificial ear, we understand, has good reproducible fashion. Using type 1 artificial ear will get better contact to receiver. 3) The purpose of using artificial ear is to just determine the input level. So, we think several types artificial ears will be acceptable as preference. 1 of 4

3 3 Clause 3.2.3, 1 c): Panasonic’s Comment (item to be confirmed)?: We would like to confirm that our understanding is correct on followings. 3.2.3, 1 c) Determine the volume control setting for nominal gain per TIA-810-B subclause 4.6 except use the high leak position. * 1) Nominal gain * 1) Nominal gain: We understand this is the “quietest volume control setting” as described on clause 4.5 of TIA-810-B. From a practical viewpoint, please confirm that the following procedure is accepted with TIA-1083-1 as we understand so: A) Set the input level with minimum volume level of sound pressure of the unit under test B) Keep the input level set as A) (and not changed) while measuring and, conduct measurement with changing the volume set positions. (this means that input level is NOT re-corrected even when the volume setting is changed) * 2)Except use the high leak position * 2)Except use the high leak position: We understand the meaning of this is that, in from a practical viewpoint, we set the artificial ear with the high leak position. Please confirm it is correct. (4.6 of TIA-810-B describes “with the mandatory low leak RLR requirement---. The “except” in 3.2.3 1 c) means it accepts to set it with high leak position as it is also described on 3.2.3 1 b). -----this is just to confirm the interpretation of “except”? * 1) Please confirm? Please confirm?: * 2) (continued) 2 of 4

4 4 Clause 3.3.3:(Transverse) Panasonic’s Comment: The same comments, and we described for clause 3.2.3 are also applied to clause 3.3.3. END Note: Next page shows copy of TIA-810-B Clause 4.4,4.7,4.8 (continued) Clause 3.2.3, 1 d): Panasonic’s Comment: We would like to comment that We would like to comment that Clause 3.2.3, 1 d) is revised as follows: 1 d) Apply a 1000Hz input signal and determine the sound pressure produced in the artificial ear. Adjust the input level to produce, (a) 0 dBPa at 1000Hz for type 3.3 artificial ear, and (b) 5 dBPa at 1000Hz for type 1 artificial ear. Use the input level thus determined for the below magnetic field measurement. The reason is as follows. We requested to use either “Type 1 or Type 3.3 artificial ear” as described on comments. Due to difference between Type 1 and Type 3.3, it is necessary to adjust the input level to produce 5 dBPa at 1000Hz for Type 1 artificial ear. 3 of 4
