Meeting “Digital Natives" on their Turf: Career Development Online A majority of today’s college students are defined as “digital natives,” persons for whom digital technologies existed when they were born. In contrast, most career centers have limited digital presences and are predominantly staffed by digital immigrants. This workshop will explore how career center staffs’ can hold on to the traditional values and theories of career counseling while adapting to the ever new frontiers of the digital age.

Learning Objectives Understand that though mediums of service delivery will change constantly, the essence of what we do as career counselors remains the same. Learn about four digital avenues of service delivery, LinkedIn, online workshops, Twitter and Skype. Know enough information about the four avenues to be able to begin to evaluate and make recommendations to, or not to, implement on their home campus. Meet other professionals who immigrated into the digital world.
