JESUS AT THE DOOR: KNOCKING A church with a mistaken view of itself It thinks itself as well of (rich, increased with goods, and have need of nothing v17) Our Lord declares it to be in a bad condition (wretched, miserable, poor, blind, naked v17) Our Lord calls it a “lukewarm” church Neither cold nor hot Being lukewarm is offensive to HIM “I would you were cold or hot” How do you know when one is “lukewarm” Neglect study of the word Neglect prayer Neglect attending public worship Neglect serving Christ The danger of being “lukewarm” “I will spit you out of my mouth” We don’t like to stay where we are not welcome But there is still hope “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation”

JESUS AT THE DOOR: KNOCKING “Behold I stand at the door and knock” How great is the love of God; His mercy! He is standing there, waiting “behold I stand” Not merely standing there; but knocking He knocks in many different ways Through Him blessing us; hearing our prayers; healing Through afflictions Through the reading and hearing of His word Through other circumstances He is knocking at the door of your heart: do you hear Him? Shall we still keep the doors of our heart against Him? Some will. But we can open the door. Do that.
