2 LEA Academic Focus Mission: ‘Students, Staff, Community— LEARNING FOR ALL’ 2011-2012 Rose Lane received a letter grade of ‘A’ and was identified as a ‘Rewards School’ for being both ‘high progressing’ (significant growth of lowest quartile) and ‘high performing’ (significant growth of all students)

4 Reading To improve Reading Achievement from 85% to 87% as measured by AIMS Spring 2013 Scores Strategies: Maximize CORE Reading Instruction; Small Group; Monitor Data; AIMS web for Resource students Action Steps: Maximize CORE Reading Instruction; Restructure W2D to focus on skill deficits while also providing independent enrichment support for at and above grade level students; Development of Common Formative Assessments; Progress monitoring/assess weekly; Monthly progress on AIMSweb—1 st Grade (pilot year) and SPED only; Quarterly Data Reflections—ALL

5 Mathematics To improve mathematics achievement from 73% to 80% meeting or exceeding as demonstrated on the AIMS 2013 Spring Scores Strategies: Maximize CORE Instruction; Implement homogeneous/flexible grouping; Small group instruction for intensive students; Monitor ongoing data Action Steps: Minimum of 70 minutes of daily core math time; Monitor weekly progress; Use of Common Formative Assessments; Quarterly Data Reflection—ALL

6 ELD To increase proficiency levels from 45% to 48% as evidenced by the 2013 AZELLA Spring scores Strategies: 4 Hour Block; Ongoing Collaboration between ELD staff; Focus on English Language Acquisition Action Steps: Progress Monitor weekly; Quarterly Data reflections

7 Student Attendance To maintain attendance rate at 95% by May 2013 by using 2012-2013 attendance data Strategies: Written reminders sent throughout the year (Newsletter); oral reminders at Curriculum Night, Parent Conferences Action Steps: Celebrations of students with perfect attendance; notices sent home with students with attendance issues; Home visits; use of CUTS for families with significant number of absences

8 Parental Involvement To increase parental involvement and opportunities for 2012-2013 by using the parent sign in data sheets Strategies: General TEAM Meetings provide learning opportunities for parents; Fall & Spring Carnivals; Dine out nights; Principal Coffee Chats; Curriculum Nights; Literacy Night; High level of staff participation in support for Community Building events Action Steps: Advertise events in advance; post on website; teacher communication; increased use of teacher websites; articulation of student growth/progress
