3. Pocket PC for a small project Choice of a Database A 12 dollar software “Data on the Run” was available for download. Due to several easy to use features and price, we decided to purchase the software. This software is automatically installed on the Pocket PC as soon as it is synchronized with the host computer.synchronized

4. Data synchronization, updates the data on both computers based on changes or deletions since the last synchronization. During a synchronization, only the changed or deleted objects are transferred. Synchronization After synchronization, the updated content sits on your Pocket PC, ready to go with you wherever you go.

5. An Access Table was created on the host computer. Steps Followed for Research Database Pocket PC was synchronized with the computer using Synchronization software (ActiveSync accompanied with the package). This access database was then copied to the Pocket PC through ActiveSync program.

7.  Data collected on the Pocket PC can easily be exported from the “Data on the Run” to an excel file to be analyzed by any statistical package.  To be used by more than one user, the ER database has also been replicated on the SQL server to be accessed through an internet access by multiple users.

8. Emergency Room Database on the Server Once all data is collected and is ready for analysis, a server based database is also ready to be used for the project. This server based database can be used for data entry, search, edit, adding new users, data export etc.
