14. …it’s not funding all Transforming Learning in Walsall projects but can help be a catalyst

Reduced need for stand alone facilities for sport, leisure and the arts saving on revenue costs and allowing for disposal of capital assets Savings across the Walsall Partnership through the co-location of services and multi use spaces allowing improved value for money Savings achieved through more localised targeted delivery of services for example, weekly housing surgeries to deal with issues in a specific area rather than several separate visits Distributive services model would reduce the need for centralised services By exploiting co-location and new technology, savings could be achieved in revenue costs and disposal of capital assets Wider savings and benefits could be achieved across the council and by our partners by joining up the BSF programme with other initiatives to provide local services and co- location. Although these are at early stages of development, some potential benefits are listed as follows: Maximising Opportunities through BSF

Existing Opportunity in Development Example: HealthTec Plans at Alumwell School HealthTec is a resource centre that is designed to link into the national school curriculum for health and social care (see http://www.ideasforlife.tv/watch/101 for an interesting video on this) http://www.ideasforlife.tv/watch/101 Project augments Alumwell’s BSF Vision well in terms of health curriculum and values and vision for a learning campus Early delivery of part of a master plan on the Alumwell site Demonstrates innovative thinking Encourages wider regeneration in an around Junction 10

18. How can you help us to Maximise Opportunities? Partners - help us to help you: Clarify / identify change projects that you have that may benefit and are capable of being joined with other programmes. Identify where and how these could be joined to BSF delivery on or around schools sites. Think beyond Wave 6a schools as well – this should be a “change masterplan” for the borough. If you have an idea – let us know! We can help test the viability of ideas site by site
